Around The Courts: A New Chapter Begins at Play Tennis Gainesville

October marks the start of a new chapter at Play Tennis Gainesville. As we say farewell to two members of our team and welcome our new interim Director, we’re grateful for the past and excited for what’s ahead. Here’s a look at what’s happening on our courts this month.

Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights

We’re marking a meaningful transition at PTG this month. Coach George Henry and Coach Ken Collins have both accepted opportunities outside of Gainesville, and while they will be greatly missed, we wish them nothing but the best in their next chapters. Their impact on our players, programs, and community has been enormous, and their contributions to PTG will continue to be felt for a long time to come. Thank you both for everything you’ve given to this facility and the players who call it home.

Effective immediately, John Sanders will step in as Interim Director at PTG. John brings strong leadership and a deep commitment to our players and programs, and we’re excited to see him lead the facility into this next chapter. Please join us in welcoming him to the role!

Looking ahead on the adult side, please note that adult classes will now have a limit on the number of available spots. Be sure to register early to reserve your spot before classes fill up. This change will help us maintain the quality of instruction and make sure every player gets the attention and court time they deserve.

On the junior side, the October schedule will be updated by the week of October 4. Stay tuned to the website for the latest details on class times, offerings, and any changes as we settle into the new season.

Facility Update

Please note a small update on court fees at our Westside location: effective September 28, court fees at Westside are $4 per player, per hour. This change is already active in the system and applies only to Westside Park, no changes have been made to court fees at any other PTG location. If you have any questions, please reach out to John Sanders, our Interim Director, at sanders@ustaflorida.com.

With a new interim Director stepping in and a fresh October schedule on the way, PTG is entering a season of steady momentum and continued growth. Thank you to every player, family, and coach who makes this facility what it is, we appreciate your patience, support, and enthusiasm as we roll into the fall.
